Surprise! FC Porto Target Lewandowski, Ready to Hijack Him from Barca
Mansion Sports – A major surprise could occur in the transfer saga involving Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski.
Sky reports that FC Porto have shown concrete interest in signing the 37-year-old Polish striker.
Although no negotiations are currently taking place and no agreement has been reached, the Portuguese giants remain in the race to secure Lewandowski’s services.
The striker’s contract with Barça will expire at the end of the season, when he will be available as a free agent.
Both the club and Lewandowski have not completely ruled out the possibility of an additional one-year extension, but signs of an imminent departure have grown stronger in recent weeks.
Several interested parties are monitoring the situation, including Serie A giants Juventus Turin and AC Milan, who are reportedly among the favorites, as well as clubs from Major League Soccer in the United States and Saudi Arabia.
Lewandowski Wants Additional Time Before Deciding His Future
The striker has repeatedly refused to discuss his future, emphasizing that he has not yet made a decision.
"I will wait for the options that come and then choose what is best for me and my family," he told reporters during FC Barcelona’s title celebrations.
Speaking later to Polish television channel Eleven Sports, the 37-year-old player was slightly more specific, admitting that he could even consider moving to a "smaller league" in the future.
"I am almost 38 years old, but I feel good and I am considering it," he said.
Lewandowski’s Role Under Hansi Flick
Under Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick, Lewandowski remains a regular starter, although he occasionally begins matches on the bench. His record of 18 goals and four assists in 43 appearances and 2,200 minutes played remains impressive.
