Vinicius Jr Officially Extends His Contract with Madrid After Rejecting Arsenal!
Mansion Sports – After a very long and drawn-out negotiation process, Real Madrid have finally announced the decision regarding the future of their attacking star, Vinicius Junior.
As officially announced by Los Blancos on Thursday evening, Vinicius has signed a new contract after his previous deal was scheduled to expire in 2027.
The Brazilian player has committed to remaining at Real Madrid for an additional five years, until 2032.
Vinicius' New Contract Negotiations Lasted for 18 Months
Discussions regarding Vinicius' new contract took place over the past 18 months. It is understood that the striker's financial demands became one of the main obstacles during the negotiation process.
According to the latest report from The Athletic, the main issue in the discussions was the signing bonus requested by Vinicius, but Real Madrid were unwilling to provide guarantees regarding that matter.
It remains unclear whether the Brazil international ultimately received a signing bonus for the new contract, although that possibility appears unlikely. Real Madrid are said to have recently informed Vinicius that the available offer would not be improved any further.
Staying at Real Madrid: Arsenal Reportedly Attempted to Sign Vinicius Junior
When the 26-year-old player returned from his holiday after the World Cup earlier this week, he held important discussions with new head coach Jose Mourinho and several sporting officials at the Spanish capital club.
The message from Madrid was very clear: Vinicius had to sign a contract extension, or the club would reluctantly have to consider selling him this summer.
If the Brazil national team star had not extended his contract, he would have been available on a free transfer next year. Real Madrid were determined to avoid that situation.
Meanwhile, Arsenal had previously been reported to be making an approach to sign Vinicius. The London club were reportedly prepared to make the dribbling specialist the highest-paid player in the club's history.
There were even recent claims that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had made direct contact with Vinicius in an effort to convince him to move to London.
However, that will not happen, and Vinicius will continue his career by lighting up the Santiago Bernabeu.
Vinicius Remains a Key Pillar of Real Madrid
Vinicius joined Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 and has since become one of the club's key players.
The announcement of Vinicius' contract extension came only a few hours after Real Madrid completed an agreement to sign Yan Diomande.
With the arrival of the 19-year-old Ivory Coast player, who joined from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of €140 million, the Spanish capital club now have an additional high-quality option on the wing.
